Elissa Russell has loved theatre ever since she lost her first tooth in the Blakemore as a five-year-old Theatre School student. From her sixth grade debut as the Queen of Hearts (for which she is still indebted to Judith Giebler, who cast her), to the six years she spent as a Pickwick Player, her time at Midland Community Theatre has always been invaluable to her. After attending the University of Texas, where she studied English, Elissa remained in Austin, where she interned at the Zach Scott Theatre and reviewed theatre for the Austin Chronicle. She also spent two summers in a barn in the middle of nowhere as a part of Shakespeare at Winedale, an intensive Shakespeare study program through UT. Most recently, Elissa worked at Virginia Repertory Theatre in Richmond, where she coordinated in-school tours for their sexual abuse prevention play. Elissa is thrilled to be back at MCT, working for the same education department that inspired her own love of theatre.
