Midland Community Theatre (MCT) serves as a leader for theatre education and artistic excellence in West Texas. At MCT, it is not enough to just “put on a show” . It is vital we engage the community we share.
Midland Community Theatre has operated under the leadership of founding executive director Art Cole (1946-1983), Don Bachman (1984-1996), Timothy Jebsen (1997 – 2024), and Adam Sahli (2025 – Current).

Opened Theatre Center – near Dennis the Menace park

Opened Cole Theatre at 2000 West Wadley
1981
Summer Mummers started being produced at Yucca Theatre
1995
Hosted the National AACT (American Association of Community Theatre) festival
1999
Purchased historic Yucca Theatre in downtown Midland
2001
Produced EVITA with MOSC at Chap Center
2005
$3.6 million capital campaign allowed MCT to renovate Cole Theatre
2006
Hosted International AACT festival at the Cole Theatre
2008, 2009, 2012
First community theatre in USA to produce THE PRODUCERS, RENT, LES MISERABLES, and SHREK THE MUSICAL
2011
Represented North American at IATA International Theatre festival in Norway

First community theatre in USA to produce SHREK THE MUSIC

Produced Les Miserables in conjunction with the Midland/Odessa Symphony and Chorale at the Wagner Noel Performing Arts Center
