Our hero, Johnny, and his trusty sidekick, Rusty, are recent graduates of Texas A&M with dazzling new degrees in Distillation and Fine Spirit Concoctions. They hop a train to head to Midland Texas, home of the Brooks Brother's Distillery, to find gainful employment. Their dreams are shattered as prohibition spreads across the state preventing alcohol sales and consumption! Willing to help these newcomers, Becky Brooks and her best friend "Bloody Mary" offer the two gentlemen a job at the Single Tree Hotel. Meanwhile, Don Brooks, owner of the closed distillery, hears through the grapevine that prohibition wont last much longer. He plans an "underground" Whiskey Recipe competition and will award the winner naming them his replacement and new head distiller, as he hopes to soon retire. Johnny joins the contest and has some stiff competition, local Parcel Service owner, Erik "The Package" Johnson. Erik and his assistant, "High Pitch Tony" do all they can to win. They lie, cheat, and even use their parcel business to bootleg illegal booze through the basin!
Set at a summer stock theatre many years ago, Babes In Arms concerns a group of young apprentices and their conviction to mount an original revue, despite the underhanded attempts of the surly theatre owner to squash their efforts at every turn. Further complications stem from the overbearing stage mother of a beautiful ex-child star and the inflated ego of a hack southern playwright. But of course the show must go on, and so it does — in a spectacular musical resolution of comeuppance, reconciliation and romance.
